Bay Island Bonsai is proud to announce the publication of its first book: An Exhibit of Fine Bonsai, 2000 - 2004.

To order the book, send this order form with your name, mailing address, and a check for $25.00 plus $3.00 shipping and handling (CA residents add $2.19 sales tax) per copy to Bonsai Boon, P.O. Box 2753, Alameda, CA 94501. Make checks payable to Bonsai Boon.

The book contains over 170 color photos of trees as displayed at BIB's first five exhibits. The 8.5 x 11 inch book has a soft cover that contains 64 color pages. To open sample pages from the book in Adobe Acrobat, click the image at right.

Each photo in the book is accompanied by:

  • the tree's common name
  • the tree's botanical name
  • the tree's height in inches
  • the pot maker's name or the source of the pot
  • the year the tree was exhibited
  • Members' Choice Award distinction*

*The Members' Choice Award is awarded to trees voted best of their class by Bay Island Bonsai Members. The shimpaku pictured above was voted the best medium conifer at the 2003 exhibit.

Although Bay Island Bonsai members may not exhibit the same trees in successive shows, members may show the same trees every other year. This allows returning trees, like the Japanese white pine pictured below, greater opportunity to develop between exhibits. By carefully perusing An Exhibit of Fine Bonsai, 2000 - 2004, you can follow the development of many trees through time.
